Win a VW ID. Buzz 1st Edition

The most hotly anticipated electric vehicle of 2023 might just be the VW ID. Buzz. A 21st-century remake of the iconic Volkswagen ‘microbus’, beloved by campers and surfers, this new one is super-stylish, all-electric and utterly practical.

For your chance to win this awesome electric VW, and an outstanding Waterfront House in Cornwall worth £4,500,000, with £100,000 in cash to help you settle in, enter the Cornwall House Draw by Sunday 26th March.

VW ID. Buzz

Volkswagen has created some iconic cars throughout its history, from the Beetle to the Golf GTI hot hatch, but arguably its most famous vehicle could be a split-windscreen campervan first built in 1950. Known by different names across the world, this ‘microbus’ symbolised adventure and independence, be it in the form of camping, surfing or just pure pack-up-and-go road tripping.

Now there’s a completely new one, remastered for the 21st century: the ID. Buzz. It’s electric, for a start, whereas the original was rear-engined (just like the Beetle). And it’s built and then shipped with a carbon-neutral footprint, while the interior features both a high percentage of recycled materials and no real leather. VW Those eco-conscious attributes might sit well in your head, but it’s the heartstrings that the design will pluck away at. From the grinning front grille, via the big VW badge on the nose, to the trick styling details on the rear pillar, it’s a design that truly stands out. And in this car’s two-tone Candy White and Lime Yellow paint, it’s both reminiscent of its ancestor yet utterly modern and up-to-date.

Inside, it’s no less fun and funky, with a two-tone colour scheme that mirrors that exterior and Pause and Play-branded brake and throttle pedals. Up front there are two heated seats; in the middle of the ID. Buzz – and accessed by sliding doors – is seating for three; and in the back is a big 1,121-litre boot. Fold the seats and that load space increases to a cavernous 2,205-litre van-like load area. VW ID Buzz Rear

The big boot and seating for five means the ID. Buzz is fantastically functional family transport, ready to take you camping, surfing or adventuring with ease. That’s not all, either: there are more USB charging ports than seats (so no phone ever need run out of power) and a 230V outlet for powering electric appliances. Like, say, a pump for your inflatable paddleboard. And because this is an electric vehicle, it works whether the ID. Buzz’s motor is on or off.

There are luxurious touches, too, as this is the fully loaded 1st Edition model that was only available to early adopters. Worth over £66,000, it packs: a 12-inch touchscreen with ‘Discover Pro’ navigation and Apple® CarPlay and Android Auto™; a nine-speaker audio system; wireless phone charging; and customisable interior mood lighting with 30 colours to choose from. Other features include advanced ‘IQ Light’ LED headlights with high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, a rear-view parking camera, and ‘Car2X’ functionality for real-time traffic information. VW InteriorsLife with an electric vehicle is straightforward, too. The 77kWh battery equates to a 254-mile electric range, and the motor generates 204PS and an instant 310Nm of torque. And if you need to replenish, 170kW DC public fast-charging means you can go from 5% to 80% charge in around 30 minutes.

The driving experience is oh so simple as well – and it’s near-silent. The gearbox is automatic, and controlled by a switch on the steering column (creating extra storage space in the shape of a ‘Buzz Box’ between the front seats). Should you wish, you can also switch to a ‘B’ mode if you want extra energy recuperation.
